2010 Dunfermline Children`s Gala

Sunday, 13th Jun 2010

This year the Carnival will be coming to Dunfermline! We have been working hard to organise a parade which will transform the High Street and Glen into a sea of colour, noise and dance. The party atmosphere will continue into the afternoon when music and dancing will be the main attraction.

he Gala will be opened by our Patron, Lady Elgin who will lead off the parade with the winner of competition to design the front cover of this brochure.
To set the scene, the parade will be headed up by the 14-piece Stiltwalking Ant Orkezdra. You definitely won’t miss this giant red musical ensemble, and we promise you will be swaying to the infectious beat of their music.

Music will definitely we the main attraction at this year’s Gala. As well as the traditional Pipe and Brass bands we also have an amazing variety carnival acts. Back by popular demand, Sambayabama will once again be taking part in the parade, as well as performing a Entertainment Area in the afternoon. Sambashows’ Samba Dancers and Brazilian Musicians are guaranteed to get everyone moving and their costumes are sure to bring sunshine to the parade.

The WOW! factor will be provided by our Stiltwalkers, Flag Dancers and Acrobats. Their bright colourful costumes are likely to transport you to the streets of Rio rather than Dunfermline!!

The children will also be throwing themselves into the carnival theme, with schools entering the Carnival Costume Competition, which will be judged in the Entertainment Area in the afternoon. We have also invited Wellwood Primary School’s Samba Drumming Group to take part, after their wonderful performance at last year’s Dunfermline Children’s Gala Christmas Concert at the Alhambra Theatre.

As well as all of this amazing entertainment there will be 3 local young bands playing at the Glen Pavilion outdoor band stand from Tower House, charity stalls, kiddies fun fair, bouncy castles, Kingdom FM disco plus much, much more.
So why not come along to the biggest event in the area and join the party!
