Concert with Seylan Baxter & Cheyenne Brown

By - Wed, 31st Oct 2007

On Thursday 15th November harp player Cheyenne Brown will be joining forces with cellist Seylan Baxter to present a concert in Abbot House in Dunfermline. The combination of Cheyenne’s exuberant and sensitive harp playing and Seylan’s singing and atmospheric cello playing, in the unique setting of Abbot House should provide a memorable evening’s entertainment.
Cheyenne Brown, from Bird Creek Alaska, came to Scotland to study music at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. She was first inspired to play Scottish music at festivals in the US, where she has returned as a tutor.

Her playing style is characteristically free and creative, making much use of improvisation and contrasting textures.

Seylan Baxter was the first ever principle study cellist on the RSAMD’s Scottish Music course. She developed her own unique cello style by adapting techniques of the fiddle and other traditional instruments.

She played as part of this year’s Robert the Bruce concert in Dunfermline Abbey Nave with local fiddler Pete Clark to widespread acclaim. Her re-appearance should ensure the concert sells, out so people are being advised to book their tickets in advance.

Tickets are available from Abbot House on 01383 733266.
