Beach Cleanup

By Dunfermline.info - Tue, 12th Mar 2002

Dunfermline Squadron have adopted Burtisland Beach but helped out at Dalgety Bay clean up.
As mentioned on the projects page, Dunfermline Squadron have adopted Burtisland Beach. On the 10th January, whilst waiting for confirmation of our registration, thirteen cadets and three members of staff headed down to the beach in order to assist members of the public do a beach clean up at Dalgety Bay. In the absence of beach towels, suncream and a vital element, the sun, the cadets were armed with gloves and bin bags.

At first, the beach looked reasonably clean. However, upon closer inspection, it was obvious that this was to be no easy task. The beach was littered with everything from cans and crisp bags to carpets and window frames.

About twenty bin bags later, the cadets task was complete. Their efforts could be seen from the pile of full bin bags, and the visibly cleaner beach. January may seem a strange time to go to the beach, but for the cadets and staff from 1145, it proved to be worthwhile and very rewarding.
