West Fife villages ExhibitionSun, 22nd Apr 2012The West Fife villages Exhibition of Art, Photography and Craft.
This April the West Fife Villages Exhibition of Art, Photography & Crafts will receive a tremendous boost as Lys Hansen, the renowned international artist and former President of the Society of Scottish Artists, has kindly agreed to open this year’s exhibition.
This will be the seventh consecutive year that the exhibition will have been hosted by the village of Saline and will be staged over the weekend of 21st and 22nd April in the Saline Community Centre. Entry to the Exhibition is free and the doors will be open from 10 am until 4.30 pm on both days.
It was confirmed that Jim Douglas, the ever popular Fife artist and author, will again be exhibiting another selection of his paintings and a number of these original works and prints will be for sale. Jim does not very often offer his work for sale.
The number of exhibits at the previous exhibition exceeded 650. This included 240 paintings and prints and 180 photographs. Additionally 268 items of artwork were on display from the ten Fife village primary schools. These exhibits from the pupils proved to be extremely popular and this year all ten primary schools in the villages will again be participating. Each pupil who exhibits receives a personalised “Certificate of Merit”
John Crane, the Exhibition Manager said, “There aren’t any rules; well not many! There are no hanging charges and we do not charge commission on sales. We do, however, accept small donations. One of our main objectives is to give encouragement and confidence to artists and photographers who do not normally exhibit their work. This laissez faire approach has resulted in an amazing high quality of exhibits being submitted.”
Any artist or photographer who would like to exhibit should contact Dave Quinney on 01383 851069, email or Marylla Ferguson on 01383 851868, email .
